Violence Against Children
The VaCNets Virtual Hub is an innovation of the Impact and Innovations Development Centre under the Learning Initiative on Prevention of Violence Against Children (VAC) in East Africa.
Launched on 24th March 2022, VaCNets virtual Hub exists to serve as a central repository of all types of evidence including local knowledge from program practice and research on What works in the prevention of VAC in East Africa; as well as a platform that connects practitioners for knowledge exchange and learning from available evidence.
What We Know
- Over the past decade, findings from national surveys on VAC in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda shows high prevalence of all types of VAC across contexts.
- Substantial investment has been made in response services including national child helplines.
- Risk factors to VAC in all settings remain an enduring challenge.
- Prevention of VAC using evidence-based approaches is critical within existing resource constraints.
- Prevention refers to all activities undertaken to create awareness, educate and build skills and capacities of individuals, families and communities to reduce social exclusion, and lower the risk of separation, violence and exploitation or to stop an act of abusive behavior.
